Shraddha Kapoor confirms her role in her second biopic, Saina, based on famous badminton player Saina Nehwal
The Half Girlfriend actress, Shraddha Kapoor announced about her new film, Saina a biopic on Saina Nehwal on Instagram and Twitter. She posted a picture of the world famous badminton player Saina Nehwal with a gold medal on and wrote about her. Shraddha says that it would be difficult for her to play the role of Saina. She refers to Saina as an youth icon in the truest sense. She also feels honored to be given the opportunity to play as Saina in her biopic.
The movie is going to be directed by Amole Gupte who has helmed Stanley Ka Dabba and Hawa Hawaii and will be produced by T series.
Shraddha captioned in her instagram photo that, “SAINA NEHWAL – The former World no 1 badminton player. An Indian girl. An inspiration to millions. A youth icon in the truest sense. Her journey to the top has been fascinating & I am honored to be given this opportunity to play her in my next film ‘SAINA’. The preparation for this film is going to be very, very challenging. Born on March 17 1990, Saina Nehwal is a professional badminton singles player from India. Nehwal, the former world no. 1, has maintained her world ranking in the top ten since 2009. She has won over twenty international titles, which include ten Superseries titles. She has represented India three times in the Olympics, winning a bronze medal the second time she played.
Shraddha is also a part of another biopic, The Queen of Mumbai – Haseena which is based on Dawood Ibrahim’s sister, Haseena Parkar’s life. The movie also featured her real life brother, Siddhanth Kapoor as gangster Dawood in the movie.
