Bollywood star Irrfan Khan lost his mother Saeeda Begum on April 25, 2020. She was 95 years old and passed away in Jaipur, while the actor was stuck in a lockdown in Mumbai. Khan’s mother passed away due to age related issues. The news of Irrfan’s mother’s death was announced by film critic Komal Nahata through a social media post and soon condolences started pouring in.
Khan is currently in Mumbai due to the lockdown and could not attend his mother’s funeral. The actor had to attend his mother’s past rites through a video conference. Some of the media reports revealed that the last rites of Saeeda Begum were performed at a graveyard in Jaipur and due to the restriction laid down due to the lockdown, only a few members were allowed to attend the funeral.
Irrfan’s brother Salman Khan revealed that his mother has been unwell for some time and her condition had deteriorated on Saturday morning. Salman added that his mother had recently inquired about Irrfan’s health. Irrfan Khan had recently undergone treatment for cancer. He was diagnosed in May, 2018 and was in London for treatment.
Post treatment he returned to Mumbai in February 2019 and had then filmed for his film Angrezi Medium. The film had released in theatres just before the lockdown and is expected to be re-released in theatres after the lockdown is lifted.
